I started watching on Jaime's recommend. I'm 3 episodes in, and I'm hooked. Winter has been so bad here, we went from disc to streaming NETFLIX. I gotta be careful or I'll watch it 24/7. Rewatching Luther, also.
A few years ago, my wife acquired a set of the first 6 seasons of Homicide. It took us awhile to really get going on it, but toward the end, when the production values improved, we we really got into it. Then, she found a copy of the 7th season just before we finished the 6 pack, so we had another years worth of viewing. Every year it got better and better. But, it takes a long time to cover 7 season.
Nice to be back on the GEA with my first post. Go figure, a non-golf one.
I don’t watch anything regularly (other than classic Doctor Who on local PBS) but am watching I am the Night on TBS. So, far first three episodes are decent. A bit hard to follow some of the stuff going on as I watch it late at night but I’m going to stick with it.
I think there’s another Mars show on National Geographic channel but I don’t get it on Sling. I’ll have to find that set at the library when available.
It's about time for my wife and I to re-watch The Wire from start to finish. We've done it a few times and at our ages we use subtitles. We've found we pick up some great dialogue that we missed without them - either because of our hearing, the dialect, or the speed at which the character speaks. But, whatever, it adds a lot.
I've read the debates over which show, The Wire or Breaking Bad is the best TV show ever. For us, it's The Wire.
Anyone watching "Pure" on HBO? Its about a Mennonite Cocaine Ring that 'forced' their new minister into becoming the head of the operation against his will. Started out interesting, but seems to be losing steam lately.
I watched about 5 minutes of an episode of Family Affair on Amazon Prime the other night...wait...did I just type that outloud? Ugh. I meant the last series I watched was The Romanoffs. Some episodes were pretty good...some were 90 minutes I will never get back.

While not a favorite I just finished binge watching the third season of True Detective and it was very good. For those that enjoyed season one and ditched it during the awful season two, season three is a return to the high quality of the first run. I'm also looking forward to the last season of Game of Thrones as that's likely as close as we're ever going to get to a real conclusion to the story. GRRM is not going to finish those books in his lifetime and if they ever get done it'll be a fill-in writer a decade from now.
boomslang: I had to look that one up. LMA0!

Whatever: Ten days later, I might have accidentally written this place's epitaph. RIP GEA. And happy Father's Day to the rest of the hard core.

Galgolfer: Just because people aren't using the Shoutbox feature doesn't mean the forum is dead.

Whatever: Hoping for the best, but while it may not be dead, it sure looks like it is at least on life support.

Whatever: 8500 posts since this thing started in February. Half of those in Politics. Anser used to do that in a good week.

Neal: The Masters and the US Open combined have only generated a handful of posts. That's pretty dead.

Neal: I don't think anyone even mentioned the PGA Championship.

Whatever: Koepka would be pissed off if he knew that.

brian11772: There are plenty of people visiting the site. We just need the visitors to start posting.

Whatever: I kinda like having this shoutbox as my personal blog.

CharlieD6: I, too, think the new GEA site is pretty dead.

CharlieD6: Is the Politics board available for viewing by Guests?
Jun 17, 2019 9:39:07 GMT -7
jaime59: None of the folders are hidden
Jun 18, 2019 6:16:51 GMT -7
CharlieD6: That's good! I'm hoping that some of the topics in the Politics folder might entice some of the Guests to join and participate in the discussions. The only problem is that lately we just haven't had any interesting discussions.

jaw2000: I tend to think it has the opposite effect. I think new readers come here to talk golf, see all that and leave. A very good reason that it was hidden on the old site. Only about 5 or so of you even post in that folder - for the most part.
Jun 18, 2019 11:37:48 GMT -7
CharlieD6: I don't see why the presence of the Politics folder would cause anyone to leave. If they don't want to participate in it, it's easy to avoid. Just don't click on it. Problem solved. There are several folders here that I never visit.

anonymous: fwiw, politics folder killed my interest in GEA.
