Just like the lip service given to women by the USGA and Egghead......Augusta National is doing the same thing....a token gesture to the gals. Why is this event called the AUGUSTA NATIONAL Women's championship when 2 of the 3 competitive rounds are played at another course....the old green jacket boys don't really want the women there. There really is no reason why all 3 rds couldn't be played at Augusta.
Looks like the strategy to BAN Crazy Lucy Li from playing has panned out....now there no one to stop Kupcho.
Anyone know how many Saturday tickets were sold?.....5000???....I wonder how much scalpers are asking for tickets on Washington Road?
More importantly who is the golfer in your profile pic? LOL!
LOL Yoo sometimes know as Ryu....a previous KLPGA pro that now on the the minor league the Dream Tour. And to top it off....I think Yoo is OEM. I have said it many times...Whan needs to give a LPGA membership...nuff said....he said he needs to grow the tour.
I thought this was going to be an interesting event when it was first announced. A stroke play version of the US Women's Amateur. But the old farts at ANGC managed to screw it up royally. Multiple venues. Almost no TV coverage. Conflict with the ANA with best AM's choosing to play in the ANA. A massive disappointment from ANGC. Either kill it entirely or fix it for next year but don't repeat this epic disaster.

I watched it. The ANWA website had a link to stream the rounds. It's an Amateur event invitation on,y as you know. The 5 Amateurs who decide not to play made a choice. 3 have missed the ANA cut the other two made the cut marginally. I'm not sure why the turned down the ANWA, a few of them have played it before. Not sure what the gain is for them? This was literally a once in a lifetime chance for them to play in the "Inaugural" event. Make golf history. Next year if they are still Amateurs they could play but they missed out being part of a historical event. I also think that those who advised them gave them poor advice. The LPGA isn't going anywhere, but your only an Amateur once.

Agree....there are no reasons why this entire event shouldn't be 3 or 4 days at AN...with 1-2 hrs/day of live coverage...and not the week of the ANA...maybe the week beforehand.
Does anyone know how many tickets were sold for Saturday....I'm guessing 5000.
NBC will be losing so much money considering Crazy Lucy Li and Alexa Pano will be absent at AN on Saturday....scalped tickets will be sold for $25 on Washington Road. Also not much for the GC spin doctors to chat about neither....they'll be heading for an early dinner.
I was there at Augusta. The young ladies played great! The course is beautiful! As others have said, the elevation changes are more pronounced than they appear to be on TV. All in all, a great experience!
boomslang: I had to look that one up. LMA0!

Whatever: Ten days later, I might have accidentally written this place's epitaph. RIP GEA. And happy Father's Day to the rest of the hard core.

Galgolfer: Just because people aren't using the Shoutbox feature doesn't mean the forum is dead.

Whatever: Hoping for the best, but while it may not be dead, it sure looks like it is at least on life support.

Whatever: 8500 posts since this thing started in February. Half of those in Politics. Anser used to do that in a good week.

Neal: The Masters and the US Open combined have only generated a handful of posts. That's pretty dead.

Neal: I don't think anyone even mentioned the PGA Championship.

Whatever: Koepka would be pissed off if he knew that.

brian11772: There are plenty of people visiting the site. We just need the visitors to start posting.

Whatever: I kinda like having this shoutbox as my personal blog.

CharlieD6: I, too, think the new GEA site is pretty dead.

CharlieD6: Is the Politics board available for viewing by Guests?
Jun 17, 2019 9:39:07 GMT -7
jaime59: None of the folders are hidden
Jun 18, 2019 6:16:51 GMT -7
CharlieD6: That's good! I'm hoping that some of the topics in the Politics folder might entice some of the Guests to join and participate in the discussions. The only problem is that lately we just haven't had any interesting discussions.

jaw2000: I tend to think it has the opposite effect. I think new readers come here to talk golf, see all that and leave. A very good reason that it was hidden on the old site. Only about 5 or so of you even post in that folder - for the most part.
Jun 18, 2019 11:37:48 GMT -7
CharlieD6: I don't see why the presence of the Politics folder would cause anyone to leave. If they don't want to participate in it, it's easy to avoid. Just don't click on it. Problem solved. There are several folders here that I never visit.
